 Privacy Policy for Comfort's Compass

Last Updated: July 20, 2026

Welcome to Comfort's Compass (comfortscompass.com). I'm so glad you're here, whether you're planning your next trip, looking for a laugh, or just nosy about where I've been lately. Before you subscribe or send me a message, here's the boring-but-important stuff about what happens to your information when you do.

1. Who This Policy Covers

This Privacy Policy applies to visitors of comfortscompass.com, including anyone who subscribes to the blog by email or fills out a contact form on the site. If you're just browsing without signing up for anything, most of this won't even apply to you, but I've included it anyway for full transparency.

2. Information I Collect

I collect information in a few different ways:

Information you give me directly:

  • Your name and email address when you subscribe to the blog

  • Your name, email address, and any message details when you use the contact form to reach out to me

Information collected automatically:

  • Basic site usage data through Google Analytics, such as pages visited, time spent on the site, general location (city or country level), device type, and how you found the site

I do not collect payment information, government ID numbers, or other sensitive personal data through this site.

3. How I Use Your Information

I use the information collected for the following purposes:

  • To send you blog updates, newsletters, or replies if you subscribe

  • To respond to questions, collaboration inquiries, or messages you send through the contact form

  • To understand how people use the site so I can improve content and the overall experience

  • To comply with legal obligations, if ever required

I do not sell your personal information. Ever.

4. Email Subscriptions

Comfort's Compass uses Squarespace to manage email signups and send newsletters. When you subscribe, your name and email address are stored and processed by Squarespace on my behalf. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of any email you receive from me, or by contacting me directly at the email below.

For more on how Squarespace handles data, you can review Squarespace's own privacy policy at squarespace.com/privacy.

5. Affiliate Links

Comfort's Compass regularly includes affiliate links, such as links to hotels, gear, tours, or booking platforms. If you click one of these links and make a purchase, I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. This helps keep the blog running (and the tea flowing). Affiliate partners may use their own cookies or tracking technology to track referrals, which is governed by their own privacy policies, not mine.

6. Cookies and Analytics

This site uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors use comfortscompass.com. Google Analytics uses cookies, which are small text files stored on your device, to collect anonymized or pseudonymized data such as pages viewed and general location.

You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, available at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout, or by adjusting your browser's cookie settings to block cookies.

7. How I Share Your Information

I don't sell or rent your personal information to third parties. I may share limited information with:

  • Service providers who help run the site, such as Squarespace (email and site hosting) and Google Analytics (site analytics)

  • Legal authorities, only if required by law or to protect my legal rights

8. Your Privacy Rights

If you're in the European Union or United Kingdom (GDPR): You have the right to access, correct, delete, or export the personal information I hold about you. You can also object to or restrict certain processing, and you have the right to withdraw consent at any time, such as unsubscribing from the email list. To exercise any of these rights, just email me at the address below.

If you're a California resident (CCPA): You have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request deletion of that information, and to opt out of the sale of personal information. As noted above, I don't sell personal information, so there's nothing to opt out of there, but you're still welcome to request access or deletion at any time.

To make any request under either law, email cadetoye@comfortscompass.com with your request and I'll respond within a reasonable timeframe, generally within 30 days.

9. Data Retention

I keep subscriber and contact information for as long as needed to fulfill the purposes described in this policy, such as sending you newsletters or responding to your inquiry, or until you ask me to delete it.

10. Children's Privacy

Comfort's Compass is not directed at children under the age of 16, and I do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided me with personal information, please contact me so I can delete it.

11. Data Security

I take reasonable steps to protect your information, including relying on reputable third-party platforms like Squarespace and Google, which maintain their own security standards. That said, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, so I can't guarantee absolute security.

12. Changes to This Policy

I may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, whether to reflect changes in how the site operates or to stay current with legal requirements. The "Last Updated" date at the top will always reflect the most recent version. I encourage you to check back periodically.

13. Contact Me

If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy, or want to exercise any of your rights regarding your personal information, reach out anytime:

Email: cadetoye@comfortscompass.com

Thanks for trusting me with your information. I promise to treat it with the same care I'd want for my own inbox (which, let's be honest, could use some decluttering).
